Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary – Marshfield, MA
Over the past weekend we decided on staying local (LOL, haven’t left Marshfield in 6 months) and traveled all the way on the other side of town to the Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary. We’ve been there a few times and it has never disappointed. Also, it’s absolutely huge, over 500 acres, so pretty hard to not social distance!
There are a five different trails there, and over the weekend we did two of them, the Pond Loop and the Secret trail and they both were awesome. The Pond Loop is really easy and a good jogger stroller would manage it pretty well. To be honest, the Secret Trail would be fine too, it’s pretty much all boardwalk and bridges, except for the end where it was a little muddy, but not too many roots. My Graco jogger would have cruised right over it all. I do have two toddlers though so keep that in mind, if you aren’t comfortable with a little weeble woobling just bring a baby carrier 🙂
The best things about these trails is all the wildlife, we spotted swans, ducks, (a million) geese, deer, a hawk and some other smaller birds (maybe identifying birds will be my 2022 New Years Resolution). Also, the bridges!! It was a hit in that aspect. Like I said, the entire Secret Trail is pretty much a bridge so it definitely scores high on the bridge rating.
If you’ve never been here I would totally recommend it. The Mass Audubon website has more information regarding the trail maps and the admission price so take a look and get outside!
