A. J. McEachern Memorial Trail & Conservation Park – Scituate, MA
I love this trail, it’s one of my favorites around us on the South Shore, it’s relatively easy and has really pretty views of the marsh, the North River and Forth Cliff. The parking lot, especially in the summer, fills up quickly since it’s also a boat/kayak launch so just be prepared if that’s when you are trying to explore this location.
The trail starts off down a path with a bridge in front of you over the water and some old bridge footings, if you go in the summer there are hundreds of crabs scurrying along the marshes under the bridge. You’ll also see Conservation Park on your left along with some cement picnic tables to enjoy a snack before you head out (definitely something I do with my kids before making the 2 1/2 year old walk the mile plus trail)
Once you start walking you’ll begin the AJ McEachern Memorial Trail, which is a little less than half a mile. You can definitely walk this with your jogger stroller, just be mindful if you are going after a rain storm it’ll be quite muddy. There is another bridge ahead where, if you go to the end, you’ll see the tower on Fourth Cliff in Humarock. There are a few different trails here which is nice, I love options on a hike! There’s a yellow trail that’s the longest and goes out about a mile through the marshes. It floods though so be aware of the tides! There’s are also blue and red markers on the trees to follow, both these trails are about .2 mile loops.
All in all I really do enjoy this area. I would say it gets a high bridge rating because the views are so pretty from them, and as long as you stay on the the AJ Memorial Path you’ll be able to walk the whole thing with your stroller.
