Rockland Town Forest – Rockland, MA
What a super cool and unique location! I saw this place pop up a few times over the summer as a “must-do” activity for kids and I really couldn’t agree more. We really enjoyed it there, all four of us.
The forest is almost 50 acres and there’s a stream running through it which is why there are about 30 bridges along the whole trail. I think this hike has received our highest bridge rating ever! There are also hundreds of little trinkets along the way, like painted rocks, ornaments, figurines, a fake alligator and stuffed animals. My son LOVED it, he (but really all of us) spent the entire time searching for the trinkets as we walked.
When you first park in the lot you’ll see a big picnic area and once you continue on you’ll start the trail, it’s one big mile and a half loop but definitely kid friendly, although not really stroller friendly.
There’s also a pine tree tunnel if you head the opposite direction of the trail. It was really pretty, along with the whole trail. We will 100% be back for this one, it was one of the best ones I think we’ve been on in terms of not having the kids naysay once the entire time (major success)
