Soule Homestead Education Center – Middleboro, MA
I swear there was a time this summer I visited every farm within an hour of us. In July we visited the Soule Homestead Farm in Middleboro and although it was a million degrees it was pretty cool and had different animals than we were used to seeing.
There were goats here, that were so silly and got really up close and personal with photobombing our selfies. There’s also some baby goats that you can feed, I believe thanks to COVID you need a reservation though, plus you also probably want to check that’s still happening in the winter. We saw pigs, chickens and some livestock, that really scared the pants off my son when they mooed at him, but was absolutely hilarious.
Soule Homestead also offers farm-based education for kids, and has a bunch of picnic tables to eat your lunch at so make sure you bring some food. There are also some trails there, they have bees which I’m always fascinated with and some produce way in the back of the farm. Along with some old tractors hidden off the paths that are really reminiscent of the “Grampa’s Tractor” book we have at home.
It was a great find in a summer that was filled with so much uncertainty, definitely give it a visit if you’re in the area, or even if you aren’t, worth the drive to get out and visit the farm for sure!
