Marshfield Bridle Rail Trail

Can you even believe we are one week away from Christmas?? If you stepped outside today to the 60 degree weather you may think Halloween was right around the corner instead but nope, it’s actually mid-December. It’s been a crazy few weeks in our house, more so I suppose than usual, between the dozens of Busy Binder orders, cookie orders, baby girls 2nd birthday party and just all around Holiday planning my mind has been pulled in a 100 different directions. So, today I decided I needed a day off from all of it, with only one thing on my agenda: spending time with my two silly kiddos.

We are so lucky to live so close to the Marshfield Bridle and Rail Trail. Over the past few years the Marshfield Trails Committee and Town of Marshfield have been working on flattening, widening, laying stone dust and most recently adding some safety precautions with crossing signs and blinking lights to the almost 3 mile trail. The rail trail runs from the old Seaview Train Station off Station street in Marshfield Hills all the way past the base of Carolina Hill, across Claypit Road, behind the Fairgrounds before ending at Dandelion Park and CVS is Marshfield Center. If you start near Seaview Station you may even sneak a peak at the goats, pigs, chickens and even horses that live along the way!

Usually, we hop on the trail near Summer Street and walk down until we reach Carolina Hill or the intersection at Ferry Street before turning back, but today we decided to switch it up and start our bike ride at the other end, behind CVS and near the marshes.

This trail is really great for strollers and bike rides which as we know isn’t always the easiest thing to find. There is plenty of space and for the most past the stone durst is flatten down enough that you can just cruise right over it. There are also a few “pull offs” along the way that allow you to venture off into the woods for a bit. If you’re looking for an easy 3 mile walk definitely give this one a try you won’t regret it, and you may even see a glimpse of some feathered friends like hawks, ducks, geese or even a bald eagle or two!
