Oatmeal raisin muffins (vegan)
Muffins are such a staple in our house. I feel like I make a batch every other week and end up freezing half of them for an easy quick breakfast during the week. The reason I love muffins so much? There is no limit to the different ways you can make them and what you can add. From savory to sweet and everything in-between I can almost guarantee you can pull together some sort of muffin from you pantry right now, if it’s edible or not is another story. I usually don’t go grocery shopping until Saturday night, my big night out these days. After a week home with growing…

Veggie Beet Burger
I live for veggie burgers. They are my go-to during the summer at every BBQ or cookout, which we will hopefully be able to have again this summer (crossing my fingers and my toes for it!) I have two favorite veggies that I would choose above all else, mushrooms and beets. Even my kids like beets, I’m guessing its because once I told my son what goes in, must come out (purple) he became very intrigued. Anyways…back to the food These beet burgers are only 5 ingredients, and you can add any toppings you like. I also made some hassle back butternut squash as our side which is always a…

Italian Christmas Cookies
My grandmother was an amazing baker. One giant regret I have is not spending as much time with her in the kitchen watching her bake and cook as I wish I did. During Christmas especially she spent weeks and weeks baking cookies, making fudge and even loukoumades (YUM). I remember one Christmas she made a gingerbread house that was big enough to fit 10 of my Barbie’s inside. All her treats were delicious and I think she made about 30 different kinds a year. The most I’ve ever made during the Christmas season was 17, which sounds impressive, unless you were ever in her kitchen (or my aunt’s she really…

Three Bean Chili
We love soup, which is why two years ago I started “Soup Sundays”. Every Sunday from mid December until March we have soup for dinner. Sounds crazy I know, but it really helps with my menu planning to know what we will be eating at least once a week, plus there are infinite possibilities when it comes to mustering up your soup recipes! Chili usually is made without broth or water since the juices from the meat is what tends to make up the stock. Since my recipe is vegetarian though I use vegetable broth as a base which technically moves this over to the Soup category, but I still…

Fill the Dump Truck
We have a fleet of dump trucks, school buses and garbage trucks and they get played with every-single-day. It really doesn’t matter what toy is already out, the trucks and buses are always involved in the game. Well, if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a million times, the craft supply that keeps on giving are pompoms, or puff balls as we so lovingly call them. Add some puff balls into an activity that ALSO involves a dump truck and this turned out to be something that both kids played with for an hour! There aren’t too many supplies, but there are a few that you many not have…

Sock puppets
I’m always looking for a way to utilize the millions of googly eyes that I bought during the height of the craft stock pile I created. One easy way was to create some sock puppets. If you’re like me, you have some socks in your drawers that have probably seen better days, but are just TOO comfortable to part with, ha! Sock puppets are a great and cute way to get your kids to have some interactive pretend play. We grabbed a few socks, some googly eyes, stickers and yarn and with a little glue came up with enough socks for our own little puppet show.

Higgins- Macallister Preserve – Scituate, MA
This morning was a lazy morning for us. We usually reserve our cartoon time for when the kids are eating lunch, they soak up that 45 minutes watching Buster the Bus, Stinky and Dirty or Sesame Street. Today was a different story, cartoons were on during breakfast and it was a great reminder for me why we never have them on that early. I think our oldest might have actually turned into a zombie watching whatever truck robot cartoon he had on. It’s important to me that our family get outside everyday and enjoy some fresh air, which is why we go on so many hikes! Sometimes though, convincing everyone…

North Hill Marsh – Duxbury, MA
Saturday mornings (it is Saturday right) these days consist of grabbing a coffee, a treat for the kids and then finding a hike to explore. Today we ventured to North Hill Marsh in Duxbury, a conservation area of over 820 acres! The Mass Audobon website describes North Hill Marsh as “a sanctuary within a refuge” and it’s so accurate. There are 5 miles, although we definitely didn’t make it that far, of trails that loop around a giant pond and have some really cool observation decks along the way. We took the yellow marked trail to the blue loop trail and coaxed our son halfway around the pond with a…

Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary – Marshfield, MA
Over the past weekend we decided on staying local (LOL, haven’t left Marshfield in 6 months) and traveled all the way on the other side of town to the Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary. We’ve been there a few times and it has never disappointed. Also, it’s absolutely huge, over 500 acres, so pretty hard to not social distance! There are a five different trails there, and over the weekend we did two of them, the Pond Loop and the Secret trail and they both were awesome. The Pond Loop is really easy and a good jogger stroller would manage it pretty well. To be honest, the Secret Trail would be…

Jacobs Pond Conservation Area – Norwell, MA
I’ve driven by Jacobs Pond at least a million times living on the Shore Shore, but it wasn’t until the fall when we decided to actually stop! And I’m so glad we did! What a great spot for a walk in the woods and a picnic. This is definitely not a walk you can do with your stroller (so many roots) so have a baby carrier ready. I had both my (at the time) 2 year old and 10 month old and the breath of fresh air was good for everyone. I wanted to include the hikes we’ve accomplished on my blog because we have gone on so many during…
