Norris Reservation – Norwell, MA
If you live around the South Shore and enjoy spending time outside you are probably familiar with The Trustees. They are an organization that care for over 100 places in the State and over 27,000 acres. According to thetrustees.org website their areas of focus include Land Conservation, Arts, , Agriculture, Horticulture and Ecology to name a few. Some of our favorite family hikes and locations are Trustees locations and Norris Reservation is no exception. Norris Reservation is located in Norwell, MA and is a popular dog walking spot so if you have a shy little pup like we do make sure you’re aware that yours most likely won’t be the…

Edible sand art
Who’s ready for summer break? Welp guess what, ready or not, it’s here! I, for one, LOVE summer, the heat, the beach, the late nights by the firepit, it’s hard to pick one thing that’s my favorite. Our love for the beach though is hard to beat so the sand, or in some cases if you live on the South Shore the nonexistent sand, was the inspiration for this activity! This craft was one that both my kids liked which is always the best kind to find, plus my daughter could eat it throughout which I think is her favorite. Anything that keeps them busy and entertained for almost *2*…

Surf City & Topsail Beach – NC
Okay let’s be honest, when you return from vacation do you immediately start thinking about how you could totally see yourself settled into a new life in that fancy new zip code? I do! 100%! And after a week in Topsail Beach, NC I’m still not sure I’ve convinced my husband I won’t be repacking our suitcases and heading back down South. This week is our first full one back to reality after an amazing time away visiting my sister in NC and we had an absolute blast! We searched for a few recommendations of kid friendly things to do, but to be honest the beautiful beaches alone are worth…

Pompom rainbow counting board
I’ve been going through the overwhelming number of cardboard boxes to put together some crafts for mornings I have meetings and the kids are faced with some quality head to the playroom and occupy yourself time. Sometimes grabbing a premade easily prepared craft is the best thing to do because for whatever reason, using recycled material seems so intriguing to them. A few days ago I snagged a couple supplies from the craft corner, my glue gun and a cardboard box and put together this pompom centric activity board. They enjoyed it although honestly anytime I bring out the pompoms they seems to enjoy the task, whether it’s put them…

Dino color match
A couple weeks ago we received a news letter from my sons Preschool about some different ways to help with fine motor skills which listed a few ideas they work on in class, including using clothes pin. Fast forward to the other day when my kids played with their giant bucket of dinosaurs and magna tiles, matching the colorings of the dinos with the tiles which let me to this great idea! A spiked dinosaur color matching game. The supplies for this craft are pretty limited, you’ll need a piece of cardboard, some dot stickers and a few clothespins. I traced and cut the dinosaur out of the cardboard and…

Alphabet matching board
Over the past few months both kids have really been working on the alphabet, at 2, my youngest has been trying to master the ABC song, which is absolutely adorable. My oldest can pretty much always identify the uppercase letters so we’ve been focusing more on lower case and let me tell you, I’ve never realized how confusing it must be that each sound actually has two corresponding letters. So to help him recognize both upper and lower case I created this alphabet matching game out of only three supplies, a cardboard box, some popsicle sticks and a marker! The first thing you’ll need here is a cardboard box, which…

Lansing Bennett Forest – Duxbury, MA
The Lansing Bennett Forest, formerly known as Trout Farm Conservation, is definitely a hidden, less known hike on the South Shore, it’s located in Duxbury and is about a 3 mile loop around the property . The Forest is named after Dr. Lansing Bennett who came to Duxbury in 1952. He was a Conservationist who Chaired the Duxbury Conservation Commission in the 1960s and 70s. According to the North South River Watershed website, “during his tenure, the town obtained over 1200 acres of conservation land.” I was intrigued by the brief description of Dr. Lansing Bennet’s life on the NSRWA website so I did a little more digging and found…

Surviving a Kitchen renovation
I can’t believe we made it but I can officially say that our kitchen renovation is finally DONE. Well, I guess technically we still need pendant lights, a chandelier, bar stools, decorations and countless miscellaneous items BUT our cabinets are installed, the countertops on and the sink is back-in-action and I am one happy Mummy. I’ve learned a few things over the past few weeks and months of this kitchen renovation and even acquired a few tips! So, have a kitchen renovation planned? Hopefully this post may help survive the chaos that may ensue in your kitchen 🙂 First things first, make some plans! I love lists, well mostly I…

Rainbow fruit loop necklace
We’ve (some how) made it through the longest two months in the history of time and are about 3 weeks away from wrapping up and kicking this winter to the curb. But, before we do we need to celebrate one of my most favorite Holidays, St. Patrick’s Day! It may be because I grew up in the Irish Riviera, or because Guinness has grown on me in recent years but I really do love St. Patrick’s Day! We have a bunch of crafts on deck for this year, along with some repeats we did last year that the kids loved (check them out under “Crafts”!). This one is sure to…
