Over the summer we were really craving a trip to Newport. The Wheelwright Trail is located in Cohasset and is really nice! It’s a little busy because I think it’s pretty well known, but there’s plenty of room since it’s so big. There are about 230 acres in Wheelwright Park and a few different trails along with Barnes Wildlife Sanctuary. The trail also travels along Holly Hill Farm in Cohasset which is right up the street. We hiked Wheelwright towards the end of the summer and it was a perfect day for it. The Griffin dairy farm is an old farm that stopped producing milk in the 70s. Piece of advice – make sure you tell your kids that or they’ll be asking you where the cows are for the entire time you’re walking.  This was a very easy and flat, sometimes gravel, walk that was great for little kids {it’s only about 1/2 a mile} but also good for a stroller. I’ve driven by the Whitney and Thayer Woods atleast a thousand times! My office used to be in Downtown Boston, which I absolutely LOVED, it was so fun to be in the city! I would take the Hingham Ferry to Rowes Wharf three times a week and walk through the wharfs to get to my building. Stroller friendly!! How hard is it to find stroller friendly walks around here am I right? Believe me, I search, high and low and have only really come across a few that are “jogger” stroller friend, which is what I mean when I say stroller friendly, not those little umbrella strollers that are 100 times easier to transport than the 200 pound joggers!! The Ellis Nature Sanctuary is located in Marshfield off RT. 139 near Sandy Hill Drive and behind the Sanctuary Church. The parking lot itself is a bit hard to find, growing up in Marshfield I must have driven by it at least 5,000 times and had no idea this place existed until we decided to go there one afternoon. What a super cool and unique location! I saw this place pop up a few times over the summer as a “must-do” activity for kids and I really couldn’t agree more. We really enjoyed it there, all four of us. The forest is almost 50 acres and there’s a stream running through it which is why there are about 30 bridges along the whole trail. I think this hike has received our highest bridge rating ever! I think I’ve driven by Norris Reservation at least 100 times on my way home from Target and have never stopped! Well we decided to go in September and I had no idea what I was missing out on. This reservation is a Trustee location with almost 130 acres. With Covid restriction in the fall the trail was one way, although I’m not sure if that has changed since then, not that it really makes too much of a difference since you’re walking in a loop anyways, you most likely wouldn’t be turning around to backtrack. This area is a real gem! Absolutely love it here. We’ve been in the summer, fall and winter and each time it’s just as beautiful as the last. I think technically the conservation land where Bay Farm is overlaps Duxbury and Kingston but the parking lot you’ll be GPSing to is in Duxbury.  The views here are great, they over look Kingston Bay and when you get to the water you can see the Myles Standish Monument way up on the hill and Saquish out over the water.
