    Phillips Farm – Marshfield, MA

This super weird thing happened this morning when I let our dogs out, there was this giant bright thing in the sky that I didn’t think was ever around here anymore. That’s right, the SUN, it’s out today for the first time in what literally feels like a month, although I think it’s only been 4 days but who’s counting (me, I am). Some much needed vitamin D is good for every one, especially two toddlers and a mother that all need some nice dry fresh air! This morning I wanted to stay close to home because my son woke up early and since he already had a few meltdowns…

Colby Phillips Trials via the Hanover Greenway – Hanover, MA

The Colby Philips Trail was SO cool, we really loved it!! Not only because it’s nice and wide but there were so many different aspects. The trail starts across the street from the Hanover Middle School. you’ll spot the sign “Hanover Greenway” once you park the car. The beginning of the trail starts over a bridge and into the woods where it’s a bit rooty (I don’t know it that’s actually a word but if I was to define it, it’d mean a trail in the woods with a lot of roots so there you go, now it’s a word). The entire trail is a little over 3 miles and…

Whitney Spur Rail Trail – Cohasset , MA

Today is definitely the pick of the week weather wise! With rain (or snow depending where you live) in the forecast the next few days I wanted to make sure I took advantage of the sun shinning down while it’s out! I don’t usually bring our youngest dog with us on hikes or trails since I always have the two kids but today I did since my oldest is at daycare. If you have a little one in a stroller, or looking for a nice walking area that isn’t through the woods you’re definitely going to want to book mark this trail. The Whitney Spur Rail Trail, also known as…

Camp Wing Conservation – Duxbury, MA

After my over 30 years of living (mostly) in and around the area April weather never ceases to amaze me. Last week we were in the 70s, this Friday calls for SNOW in some areas, and today started out in the 40s and cloudy and now we have upper 50s and sunny. This morning after dropping off a few busy books (see my previous post about these books or you can visit my now live Etsy store!!: HumarockMaMom) we headed over to Duxbury to a trail I’ve seen a few times I was driving through the area, Camp Wing Conservation. Camp Wing itself is a Camp in Duxbury that serves…

Donovan – Wildcat Conservation Area – Norwell, MA

Today, weather wise, is the nicest day of the year in our area, it’s almost 70 degrees for the first time since 2020 and I am in heaven. Since my son is at daycare today I planned to take my daughter on a walk in her stroller since we never usually do that and she’s always in her carrier. Well, that idea all went down the crap shoot when a trail head marker caught my eye which usually happens so I’m not sure why I was surprised lolol. Originally, I was going to walk along the Norwell Pathway, which extends from the Donovan – Wildcat parking area all the way…

Thaddeus Chandler Sanctuary – Duxbury, MA

I read about the Thaddeus Chandler Sanctuary on the North South Watershed website a while back so we drove by to check it out after we walked along the O’Neill Farm last week. This past Saturday we decided to hike the Sanctuary before the rain moved in and it was a pretty nice, although at times pretty poorly marked trail. I’m not sure if the trails are in the process of being reworked but there were a lot of different colored decals throughout the location and not a lot of information on them on the AllTrails or town website. It would definitely be pretty easy to lose your way here…

Historic O’Neill Dairy Farm – Duxbury, MA

This morning we visited the O’Neill Dairy Farm in Duxbury, Ma after I read about the location last night during my search for a fun place to take the kids. The Dairy Farm is the one of the oldest and also last working dairy farms on the South Shore. It originally started operations in the 1700s and although the buildings have been moved and rebuilt , you’ll see the old building foundation from the parking lot, it still produces dairy products. From the parking lot you’ll see the entrance to the trail which is lined with a wooden fence. Follow along down the fence where you’ll be met with a…

    Cornhill Woodlands – Marshfield, MA

This morning we, well really me because my kids only ever answer “the beach” when I ask them where they want to go, decided to go to Cornhill Woodlands for our hike. There’s a great little (secret so don’t tell) bench at the end of Cornhill Lane in Marshfield that is a perfect quiet spot to watch the birds in the marsh or the kayakers and boaters in the summer. Well don’t be confused with the Cornhill Woodlands Trail location because the parking lot isn’t on this street 🙂 I learned that when I drove up and down the street looking for the one I saw in the picture, there…

Hatch Lot Conservation – Norwell, MA

I discovered the Hatch Lot Conservation like I do most trails, I drove by and the sign caught my eye. So I put in my mental hikes memory bank until we got home. The Hatch Lot trails are located right behind Hornstra Farms, which means we’ll be back to go again in the Spring when the ice cream window opens. This trail is about a a mile long through the woods behind the farm and a few neighborhoods before it dips out into the Burnt Plain Swamp. The swap itself is hundreds of acres and has two different watersheds according to the North South River Watershed Association, which they said…

    Willowbrook Farm – Pembroke, MA

Willowbrook Farm in Pembroke is up there as one of the best hikes we’ve been on in recent memory. It’s filled with adventure on both trails that are found on the Wildland Trust Preserve property. The area is over 120 acres and is actually made up of 6 different properties all of which were either donated or purchased between 1997 – 2005. There are tons of different trees and shrubs that grow in the location and a few of them are marked with plaques like a giant white oak. From the parking lot you’ll walk through a gate past the sign at the entrances to the trail, walk through the…
