Griffin Dairy Farm – Abington, MA

The Griffin dairy farm is an old farm that stopped producing milk in the 70s. Piece of advice – make sure you tell your kids that or they’ll be asking you where the cows are for the entire time you’re walking.  This was a very easy and flat, sometimes gravel, walk that was great for little kids {it’s only about 1/2 a mile} but also good for a stroller. To be honest there isn’t really too much to see, I think we’re pretty spoiled with all the water and trails around us, but my son still enjoyed it. I mean, there’s 2 bridges so of course he liked that and…

Whitney and Thayer Woods – Hingham, MA

I’ve driven by the Whitney and Thayer Woods atleast a thousand times! My office used to be in Downtown Boston, which I absolutely LOVED, it was so fun to be in the city! I would take the Hingham Ferry to Rowes Wharf three times a week and walk through the wharfs to get to my building. I swear, every single time I drove by the parking lot for these Woods they were packed! Didn’t matter if it was morning or night there were always people here! Today, since it’s pretty nice out, we decided to head there and were not disappointed! I may have seen the sign a million times…

Webb Memorial State Park – Weymouth, MA

Stroller friendly!! How hard is it to find stroller friendly walks around here am I right? Believe me, I search, high and low and have only really come across a few that are “jogger” stroller friend, which is what I mean when I say stroller friendly, not those little umbrella strollers that are 100 times easier to transport than the 200 pound joggers!! Webb Memorial State Park, located in Weymouth is a stroller friendly area with amazing views of Boston, the Boston Harbor Islands, and the Fore River Bridge. The trail here is a mile long, gravel loop that travels around the peninsula and back to the parking lot. There…

Ellis Nature Sanctuary – Marshfield, MA

The Ellis Nature Sanctuary is located in Marshfield off RT. 139 near Sandy Hill Drive and behind the Sanctuary Church. The parking lot itself is a bit hard to find, growing up in Marshfield I must have driven by it at least 5,000 times and had no idea this place existed until we decided to go there one afternoon. If you are driving toward the center of Marshfield the lot is on the main road right next to the entrance to Sandy Hill Drive, go a little slow because it definitely sneaks up on you! The Sanctuary has a 1/2 mile long walk around a cranberry bog, that is no…

Rockland Town Forest – Rockland, MA

What a super cool and unique location! I saw this place pop up a few times over the summer as a “must-do” activity for kids and I really couldn’t agree more. We really enjoyed it there, all four of us. The forest is almost 50 acres and there’s a stream running through it which is why there are about 30 bridges along the whole trail. I think this hike has received our highest bridge rating ever! There are also hundreds of little trinkets along the way, like painted rocks, ornaments, figurines, a fake alligator and stuffed animals. My son LOVED it, he (but really all of us) spent the entire…

    Norris Reservation – Norwell, MA

I think I’ve driven by Norris Reservation at least 100 times on my way home from Target and have never stopped! Well we decided to go in September and I had no idea what I was missing out on. This reservation is a Trustee location with almost 130 acres. With Covid restriction in the fall the trail was one way, although I’m not sure if that has changed since then, not that it really makes too much of a difference since you’re walking in a loop anyways, you most likely wouldn’t be turning around to backtrack. There are three trails , the McMullan Trail, River Loop and Gordon Pond and…

Bay Farm Conservation – Duxbury, MA

This area is a real gem! Absolutely love it here. We’ve been in the summer, fall and winter and each time it’s just as beautiful as the last. I think technically the conservation land where Bay Farm is overlaps Duxbury and Kingston but the parking lot you’ll be GPSing to is in Duxbury.  The views here are great, they over look Kingston Bay and when you get to the water you can see the Myles Standish Monument way up on the hill and Saquish out over the water. This can be a pretty busy area and a few times I’ve driven by the parking lot is almost filled but we’ve…

    A. J. McEachern Memorial Trail & Conservation Park – Scituate, MA

I love this trail, it’s one of my favorites around us on the South Shore, it’s relatively easy and has really pretty views of the marsh, the North River and Forth Cliff. The parking lot, especially in the summer, fills up quickly since it’s also a boat/kayak launch so just be prepared if that’s when you are trying to explore this location. The trail starts off down a path with a bridge in front of you over the water and some old bridge footings, if you go in the summer there are hundreds of crabs scurrying along the marshes under the bridge. You’ll also see Conservation Park on your left…

Nava-Stasiluk Conservation Area – Hanover, MA

I’m constantly looking for new trails. I feel like I spend half my night searching for either a craft or hike for the next day (depending on the weather).  Flashback – we are currently in the process of potty training our son and last week he filled up his potty train tracks with stickers which means he got to pick out his very own prize. He also got a Target gift card for Christmas so we went there Friday morning to pick out a brand new excavator toy. I knew he’d want to go right home to play with his new toy so my best bet to get him to want to…

Hoyt – Hall Preserve – Marshfield, MA

Last weekend was absolutely b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! Sunny, warmish (above 40), and no wind! We have been dying to visit the Hoyt – Hall Preserve in Marshfield and it was the perfect day for it. The trail is part of the Wildlands Trust and the overall location is 123 acres, plus it has just about everything. There are views of two ponds (fresh water and a marsh) where apparently a rare bird the American bittern can be spotted, a small waterfall, a few bridges and even travels up a few hills that our almost 3 year old thought were mountains. The parking lot is pretty small and fills up rather quickly and…
